EU Partnership > About EPAU

The European Partnership Agreement Unit (EPAU) is mandated under the organizational structure of the Trade Agreements Sector with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of the Agreement and conducting the following tasks:

  • Review of trade flows with the EU (under the Agreement) with a periodical evaluation of the impact of implementation on Egypt’s trade with the EU via a monthly report including the following:
    1. Trade data on items subject to exemptions (whether Egyptian Customs or EU data).
    2. Trade data on items not subject to exemptions (whether Egyptian Customs or EU data).
  • Propose necessary procedures to implement Article 86 of the Agreement stating that “The Parties shall take any general or specific measures required to fulfill their obligations under this Agreement.”
  • Prepare for negotiation rounds.
  • Investigate trade impediments with the EU and propose solutions in collaboration with the concerned authorities.
  • Monitor Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Agreements with Mediterranean countries other than Egypt.
  • Monitor other agreements to which the EU is a party.
  • Monitor various EU issues that impact Egyptian foreign trade.
  • Prepare studies and conduct research on the impact of implementation of the Agreement on various sectors.
  • Coordinate with all concerned entities with the aim of attaining the maximum benefit for Egypt.
