Dr. Youssef Boutros-Ghali, former Minister of Foreign Trade, invited his counterpart from New Zealand in May 2004 to begin free trade agreement negotiations between the two countries. A delegation from New Zealand visited Cairo twice. The last meetings were held March 19-23, 2005 to exchange views about the principles and mandate of the negotiations.
