EFTA countries, composed of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, have a population of approximately 12 million, which makes it an important European market for Egyptian exports.
Several rounds of Egyptian-EFTA negotiations have been held. These negotiations resulted in the conclusion of an agreement to immediately liberalize Egyptian exports of industrial goods to EFTA member countries. Egypt has also provided to EFTA members lists of Egyptian agricultural commodities, highlighting products like potatoes, fruit and cut flowers. With regard to rules of origin, Egypt confirmed its intention to apply Euro-Mediterranean rules pursuant to the Euro-Egyptian Partnership Agreement.
the agreement was signed on the 27 th of January 2007 in Davos , and the two parties have ratified the agreement , as a result the agreement has entered into force on first of August 2007.
