What is the Trade Monitoring Center?

Monitoring trade is a continuous activity of all TAS departments. The Trade Monitoring Center (TMC) is coordinated by the TAS Legal Research and Analysis Department. It seeks to help Egyptian exporters overcome trade barriers faced in overseas markets and helps to ensure that Egypt’s trading partners comply with their commitments to Egypt.

Through the TAS website we encourage Egyptian exporters to become familiar with trade agreements signed by Egypt and to report trade barriers to us. The various TAS departments have prepared summaries of trade agreements and exporters’ guides, which are accessible through this section of the website. We will add more as they become ready or are requested.

In addition, TAS will begin in 2006 to prepare trade barrier reports on its main trading partners. We rely on Egyptian traders and the Egyptian Commercial Service’s overseas offices to inform us of problems facing our exporters abroad.
