Proposal submitted by members on the WTO role against the Financial Crisis   -    01 September 2009

A paper was submitted by Argentina about the extent and impact of the current global economic crisis  on the growth of international trade, assuring on the importance of implementing a work program concerning the notification  about  members trade related measures.

 

Another paper was submitted by Colombia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong China,  Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey and Uruguay in which  they  committed themselves To refrain from adopting any protectionist measures  to the end of 2010.

 

On behalf of the African Group and Egypt stressed on avoiding any attempts to reinterpret or change mandates in any of the negotiating tracks, and maintain multilateral negotiating process track, and full transparency. giving special priority to issues of concern to LDC countries.
